Alabama Men's Golfer Nick Dunlap Advances to 2023 U.S. Amateur Championship Semifinals

Jay Seawell and Alabama men's golf are having a great summer.
Under a month ago, former Crimson Tide golfer Lee Hodges won his first PGA Tour event at the 3M Open in Minnesota. Another former Alabama golfer, Davis Riley, won the Zurich Classic of New Orleans in April.
Now, it's a current member of the roster that is making noise.
On Friday, Nick Dunlap birdied the 19th hole and defeated Auburn's Jackson Koivun in the quarterfinals of the 2023 U.S. Amateur Championship to advance to Saturday's semifinal round.
With the win, Dunlap becomes just the sixth in Crimson Tide program history to reach the semifinals. The list of others includes Justin Thomas (2012), Michael Thompson (2007), Dicky Pride (1991), Cecil Ingram (1980) and Jerry Pate (1974).
Only Thompson and Pate reached the finals — Pate won it.
Dunlap is currently ranked No. 9 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings. He will take on the University of Florida's Parker Bell in the semifinals on Saturday.
Live television coverage of Dunlap’s semifinal matchup will air Saturday from 4-5 p.m. CT on the Golf Channel and 5-7 p.m. CT on NBC.
