When you don't allow a single run over three games with a perfect game mixed in there as well, that is deserving of some kind of honors, and usually means a weekly award from the Southeastern Conference is headed your way.

And for the ninth time in her career, Alabama's fifth-year senior Montana Fouts has been named the SEC Softball Pitcher of the Week.

Fouts made three starts over the past week with two complete game shutouts, including the perfect game against Longwood Sunday afternoon, allowing just four hits with 36 strikeouts over 19 innings.

The performance was also impressive enough to lands Fouts national pitcher of the week honors by the NFCA Tuesday.

When Fouts threw the perfect game against the Lancers, it was the second day in a row she faced the same lineup, yet did not have any issue retiring the batters.

"I thought it was a really good opportunity because in SEC play we’re going to be facing the same team three times in a row," Fouts said after the win. "There’s a possibility I could pitch in all three of those games, and I think you could say the same for all of our staff too."

It was the third perfect game of Fouts career. With the strong performances over the past weeks, she has lowered her ERA to 1.69 and has 107 strikeouts already on the season.

This is the 14th total weekly award Fouts has won from the SEC and 51st time in program history an Alabama player has been named Softball Pitcher of the Week.

Alabama's next game is Tuesday at 6 p.m. against Western Michigan, and it will be the final home before a five-game road stretch.
