Brandon Miller Named SEC Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year by League Coaches

A total of six different Alabama players were awarded honors by the league's coaches.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Southeastern Conference revealed its men's basketball postseason awards list on Monday afternoon, with the league's 14 coaches giving their picks for this year's honors.

Alabama freshman forward Brandon Miller earned First Team All-SEC honors as well as being named both the SEC Player of the Year and the SEC Freshman of the Year. He's the first player to win both during the same season since Kentucky center Anthony Davis in 2011-12.

Senior guard Jahvon Quinerly earned the final individual honor for a Crimson Tide player by being named Co-Sixth-Man of the Year, splitting the award with Antonio Reeves of Kentucky.

Miller was the lone representative for Alabama on the SEC's First Team, while guard Mark Sears was the only Crimson Tide player named to the league's Second Team. Center Charles Bediako was named to the SEC's All-Defensive Team, while a trio of freshman made the SEC All-Freshman Team in Miller, Jaden Bradley and Noah Clowney.
