TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — A preliminary hearing in the capital murder trial of former Alabama basketball player Darius Miles and Michael Davis in the death of Jamea Harris took place in Tuscaloosa Tuesday morning.

At the hearing, it was revealed that Miles and Davis were in Alabama freshman Brandon Miller's car before the shooting. During Tuesday's regularly scheduled press conference ahead of the Crimson Tide's game at South Carolina, Alabama head coach Nate Oats said they knew about Miller's presence at the scene, but that he has been fully cooperating with law enforcement.

"Brandon hasn’t been in any type of trouble, nor is he in any type of trouble in this case," Oats said. "He was in the wrong spot at the wrong time."

Oats said that Miller has been interviewed by the police, and law enforcement is, "fully comfortable with everything that happened there."

According to a report by Carol Robinson of Al.com, Miles texted Miller to bring the gun to the scene that was used to kill Harris. There is nothing police can charge Miller with according to the story. Alabama freshman Jaden Bradley was also present at the scene according to police.

The motion to set bond for Miles at the hearing was denied.

The situation is still weighing heavily on the hearts of the team, which closed Tuesday's practice with a prayer for the victim and her son Kaine.

"We’ve known the situation since then," Oats said. "We’ve been fully cooperating with law enforcement the entire time. The whole situation’s sad. The team closed practice with a prayer for the situation today, knowing that we had this trial today. You think of Jamea and her family and Kaine. You really think about her son Kaine that was left behind. It’s sad."
