Did You Notice?

• Tarsis Orogot clocked a sub-20 second time in the 200-meter preliminary dash to not only break Alabama’s school record but also solidify his automatic qualifying spot in the final at the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships. The Ugandan ran a blistering 19.94 time to earn a third-place showing in the semifinal.

• Alabama softball announced the addition of fifth-year senior pitcher Kayla Beaver to its 2024 roster, joining the Crimson Tide after a standout career at Central Arkansas. Last season she was 25-7 with a 1.15 ERA and 194 strikeouts over 201.2 innings pitched. Her 11 shutouts ranked third nationally. • Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa donated $10,000 to the family of the late fan who created the popular “We Are TuAnon” Twitter account. Eric Carmona died in a motorcycle accident on June 1. He was 30.

• Former Alabama linebacker Eryk Anders announced that he plans to retire after five more UFC bouts. The first will be Saturday night against Marc-André Barriault at UFC 289 in Vancouver. “Five (more fights) puts me at 20 UFC fights and I think that’s a really good ... not many people get that many fights with the UFC,” he said. “My kids are getting older so it’s time for me to kind of, not really transition into a father role because I’m active in their lives, but going away for two months at a time and being gone fighting then needing surgery and even when I get home, sitting on the couch in a cast or whatever. It’s just time for me to put more into them. I’m already 36, so I kind of already see the light at the end of the tunnel.”

• Look, he's smiling again ...

On This Day in Crimson Tide History:

June 8, 1960: Former Alabama star Hootie Ingram, an assistant coach at Wake Forest and en route to Tallahassee for a coaching clinic at Florida State, stopped in Tuscaloosa to visit family and friends. When asked if he liked college coaching, Ingram replied, "Yes, but recruiting is a humbling experience." Ingram noted how he was sent to Pennsylvania and New Jersey on a recruiting trip. "I'd never been there before and it was my first time on a turnpike. I didn't know when to get off, so I just drove to where it ended, turned back around and headed South." — Bryant Museum

Crimson Tide Quote of the Day:

"There ought to be a special place in heaven for coaches' wives." — Paul W. “Bear” Bryant

We'll Leave You With This:

In his final appearance representing Alabama, Bobby Colantonio Jr. earned honorable mention All-America status after his 67.27-meter (220-8) performance in the hammer throw at the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships.
