Former University of Alabama basketball forward Galin Smith announced on social media where he would play his final year of eligibility on Tuesday morning.

The 6-foot-9, 250 pound big man will be taking his talents to College Park, Md., and joining the Maryland Terrapins for the 2020-2021 campaign. He also named VCU and Arizona State in his top three over the weekend.

“I would like to thank all of the coaches that took out the time to recruit and show interest in me,” Smith said in a tweet. “After many talks with God and my family I’ve been led in the direction to join Coach Turgeon and the Maryland family!

Smith appeared in 70 games in three seasons with the Crimson Tide. He owns career averages of 3.2 points and 2.1 rebounds.

Since he has already graduated, he will be eligible immediately.
