Front Court Depth Provides Alabama Women's Basketball More Options In New Season

The Alabama Crimson Tide women's basketball program kicked off a brand new season on Monday. Fresh off a summer European tour in Spain, the Tide is looking to build off last season's NCAA Tournament First Round appearance.
Head coach Kristy Curry enters her 11th year leading the Alabama program and her 25th season leading a college program. Despite the roster turnover in the offseason, Curry is excited about the current group of athletes.
"I think you've got some versatility on this team. I love our front line. I love our new faces. I feel like we're bigger. I feel like we have more options along the front line. I like our depth there, something that we haven't necessarily had," said Curry on Monday. "I think we'll be able to move some folks around and put them in a position to maybe get back - Sarah Ashlee for instance - playing more of a three than a four. The biggest key right now is keeping everybody healthy. That's a big piece across the country on making sure that, when you're a healthy team you're a much better team. So we're just trying to stay healthy and get better with every day."
The Crimson Tide welcomes three freshman and three transferees as they face an uphill battle to compete with SEC powers like defending national champions LSU and Final Four participants South Carolina.
Alabama tips off its regular season on Wednesday, Nov. 1 against University of Alabama Huntsville.
