Gymnastics Instant Analysis: No. 11 Alabama 197.850, No. 6 Auburn 197.700

The BamaCentral crew recaps the Crimson Tide's win over the Tigers, including a perfect 10 from Luisa Blanco.

There was a roaring crowd and an indescribable amount of energy in Coleman Coliseum on Friday night as No. 11 Alabama gymnastics upset the No. 6 Auburn Tigers by a final tally of 197.850-197.700.

The Crimson Tide was able to close out the meet with a 49.700 on floor, a new program record. It also received a 49.675 on beam, which is its second-highest score in program history.

Luisa Blanco was the star of the night for the Crimson Tide. She earned a 10.0 on beam and posted two other scores of 9.95 or higher. The all-arounder scored a 39.750. Blanco went out on all events trusting herself, her preparation, and her team. 

Many other gymnasts performed well tonight, too. After a fall on vault, Makarri Doggette was able to bounce back with a 9.95 on bars. Lilly Hudson secured two nearly perfect scores of a 9.975 on beam and floor. Gabby Gladieux, Ella Burgess, Shania Adams, and Madi Waligora were all received a 9.9 on higher on an event.

This meet was a testament to show the continuous improvement and consistency of the team.

On top of this great meet for the Crimson Tide, the student section was really pouring into the athletes, and you could see how excited they were. There was so much energy in the air which seemed to help Alabama secure its win.
