Alabama baseball won the weekend opener against Missouri thanks to some powerful hitting. Today, the Crimson Tide looks to take the second game of the series in a Saturday afternoon matchup against the Tigers.

Alabama totaled 11 hits last night, five of which went for extra bases. Tamez led the offense with a 4-for-5 showing that included a homer, a double, one RBI and a team-high two runs scored. Colby Shelton added a double with Pinckney and West rounding out the extra-base knocks. West also led the Tide in RBI with two on his home run.

The Tide also received a solid starting effort from Luke Holman, who worked 4.0 innings and allowed three runs (one earned) on three hits and three walks with three strikeouts.

Garrett McMillan will get the start for Alabama today. In two starts and three appearances this season, McMillan has gone 7 1/3 innings with six strikeouts and three walks. His most recent outing included 5 innings of shutout baseball against Auburn, where he struck out four batters and only gave up one hit.

Winning the series - or even a sweep - would be huge for Alabama as Brad Bohannon's squad desperately needs to keep pace in the SEC and the NCAA Regionals. There isn't a better opportunity than against a Missouri team that is last in the SEC East and is struggling to produce runs.
