After earning its first SEC series sweep last weekend against Missouri, Alabama baseball returns to Sewell-Thomas Stadium to take on the Samford Bulldogs. Alabama and Samford will meet for the 113th time in history and the second time this season when the teams square off on Tuesday evening at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. The Crimson Tide leads the all-time series, 97-15, including a 76-9 mark at The Joe.

Samford’s last trip to Tuscaloosa came on April 5 of last season. The Tide claimed a 10-1 win in that contest.

Alabama comes in today with a 29-12 overall record and a 9-9 record in SEC play. It has been an uphill battle against conference opponents, consistently struggling to get a series win. That luck changed when Brad Bohannon's squad took a trip to Missouri, where the Tide won all three games against the Tigers to get to a .500 record

With two series against LSU and Vanderbilt coming up, Alabama could use a win against Samford to have some positive momentum, and it'll start with Brayden Gainey.

Gainey has made five appearances this season, but this is his first start of the year. In the 7 2/3 innings he's pitched, he has a 3.52 ERA with four walks and six strikeouts.

Samford comes in today with a 22-18 record and an 8-4 conference record. The Bulldogs lost its last series to Wofford on the road. After today's game, the Bulldogs will stay on the road to take on Virginia Military Institute in a weekend series, then a midweek against Jacksonville State before returning home to take on Western Carolina.
