TUSCALOOSA, Ala.— Alabama baseball will have its first taste of conference play at home as the Crimson Tide prepares to take on the Kentucky Wildcats.

Brad Bohannon's squad scored 12 runs against UAB on Tuesday night, mercy-ruling the Blazers 12-2 in eight innings. The win brings the Tide's record to 18-4 on the year and 15-2 at home.

Unfortunately, the good play did not translate to its first SEC series on the road against Florida. Alabama lost the series against the Gators and Andrew Pinckney struggled in Gainesville, but the Tide did win the series finale 6-3. Now Ben Hess will take the mound as Alabama looks to continue the momentum inside Sewell-Thomas Stadium.

One player to keep in mind as Alabama plays its second SEC opponent is freshman Colby Shelton. Shelton had a solid performance against the Gators, one that included a home run for the Florida native. It's a good sign that he was able to stand his ground in his first series of conference play, and he'll likely only get stronger the more he sees.

Alabama welcome's a Kentucky team that is 19-2 on the season, and the Wildcats convincingly swept Mississippi State during its first SEC series. Kentucky comes into Tuscaloosa on a 15-game winning streak.
