Another regular season has come and gone, and for the No. 25 Alabama soccer team, there's one more opportunity to make a statement before the postseason begins with the conference tournament.

The Crimson Tide (10-4-4) dropped a 2-0 result to Mississippi State on senior night last Sunday. That match ended a run of 28 straight home matches without a defeat. However, one more match remains prior to the postseason tournaments all teams strive for success in. On Thursday evening, Alabama will do battle with Missouri.

The Tigers (5-8-3) will not be heading to Pensacola, Fla., for the SEC tournament, meaning that win or lose, this is it. There's something to be said for defending home field, which conference teams have succeeded at against Alabama this fall, and closing the season out on a high note. A ranked win certainly falls into that category. Missouri never faced Alabama's College Cup team, making it one of the few SEC opponents not to. These two sides last met in 2021.

Alabama is 1-3 in road matches against SEC opponents, losing to Arkansas, Kentucky and Texas A&M. In its last road outing, the Crimson Tide rode an Itala Gemelli goal to a 1-0 win over Ole Miss in Oxford, Miss. That type of win set the tone for future road matches. Thursday's is the first since that showing. Mississippi State shut Alabama out on Sunday, a rare feat. If Missouri can do that, the likelihood of an upset increases substantially. Kickoff is at 5:30 p.m. CT.
