TUSCALOOSA, Ala.— Rarely has the Alabama soccer team found itself playing coming off a loss in the regular season. That, however, is exactly the situation the No. 9 Crimson Tide finds itself in on Sunday night.

No. 9 Alabama (6-1-4) was listless on Sept. 21 against Arkansas in a 5-0 loss. Head coach Wes Hart said his team was noncompetitive for the first time in a while. It's a quick reset. There's little time for the Crimson Tide to lick its wounds as Vanderbilt awaits.

The Commodores (6-1-3) faced the Crimson Tide on two occasions in 2022. The first, an exhibition, was the inaugural effort for an Alabama team that became the program's best. The second came much later, in the SEC Tournament. A narrow Alabama win saw the regular season champion advance despite a spirited performance from the Commodores.

The Crimson Tide attack wasn't consequential against the Razorbacks, but rare defensive woes also plagued Alabama in the losing effort. Coralie Lallier had her worst day in net, but Hart said the Razorback goals were not her fault. The back line struggled against a dynamic offense that posted three goals in the first 45 minutes alone. A second-half brace put any hopes of a comeback out of reach.

Sunday's contest is also important for another reason. Alabama seeks its first conference win of the new season after a 10-0 run of the slate last fall. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. CT.
