Report: Alabama Football Hires Charlie Strong as a Defensive Analyst
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Former Texas and Louisville head coach Charlie Strong is joining Nick Saban's staff at Alabama as a defensive analyst, per reports.
Strong was in the same role in Tuscaloosa in 2020 — the season the Crimson Tide won the national championship.
Strong was an assistant head coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2021. Last season, Strong was a co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach for the Miami Hurricanes.
Strong joins Tommy Rees, Kevin Steele, Ken Whisenhunt and Robert Bala as Saban's latest hires. Defensive assistant Austin Armstrong came to Tuscaloosa — but has since left for Florida to be the defensive coordinator of the Gators.
Strong was the head coach at Louisville from 2010-2013. He led the Texas Longhorns football program from 2014-2016. His last college head coaching job was at South Florida, where he served as the head man of the Bulls from 2017-2019.
