After the 81-77 loss to Florida, Alabama is now the sixth seed in the SEC, and it needs a win against Ole Miss and a Mississippi State loss to get back into the top four of the SEC.

That fourth spot is the final spot for a double-bye in the SEC tournament, a massive advantage for a team like Alabama who wants to make a post-season run.

Last season, Alabama did not get that double-bye and had to play in the first round. It hurt them in the long run as they lost to Tennessee in the third round due to the issue of depth.

Brittany Davis has played a lot of minutes in all of Alabama's games, and the byes could be crucial for her and others on the team who need some rest. Someone else who would benefit is Megan Abrams, who spent a lot of the season hurt and only came back a few games ago.

Getting Abrams back to full health, along with the rest of the team getting a much-needed break would be huge for Alabama.

For the game Sunday, Ole Miss provides an interesting challenge to the Crimson Tide. The last time these two teams met, Davis was not available due to injury. Alabama won in Oxford that time, but now the Rebels have to face Davis.

That could be the difference for Alabama, as easy as it is to say that, but the Ole Miss game does have the added pressure of that fourth spot on the line.

That pressure, along with the game being senior day, means that the game on Sunday has a lot of stakes and should be a very interesting contest in the SEC.
