Will Anderson Jr. Named AP SEC Defensive Player of the Year

A total of nine Crimson Tide players were named to the Associated Press' All-SEC First and Second teams.

The Associated Press announced its 2022 All-Southeastern Conference selections on Monday afternoon, with multiple Alabama players being honored as First Team and Second Team selections.

For the second year in a row, Alabama linebacker Will Anderson Jr. was named as the SEC Defensive Player of the Year. Selected unanimously, Anderson was also named First Team defense alongside defensive back Kool-Aid McKinstry and defensive lineman Byron Young.

On First Team offense, Crimson Tide guard Emil Ekiyor Jr. was the lone player selected.

On the AP All-SEC Second Team, Alabama quarterback Bryce Young and placekicker Will Reichard were selected. Additionally, running back Jahmyr Gibbs was named the team's running back as well as its all-purpose player.

On Second Team defense, safeties Jordan Battle and Brian Branch were selected.
