The Alabama basketball program announced the official addition of Derrion Reid to the Class of 2024 on Wednesday.
Reid is considered a 5-star prospect and the No. 9 player in the entire class. The 6-foot-8, 200-pound small forward is from Georgia, but plays his high school basketball for Prolific Prep, a premier basketball academy in California.
He currently sits as Alabama's fourth-highest rated recruit in program history, behind Collin Sexton, Brandon Miller and JD Davison.
"We are thrilled to welcome Derrion and his family to the University of Alabama. Derrion is a top-10 player in the country because of his versatility on offense and can guard multiple positions on defense," said Alabama head coach Nate Oats. "He possesses elite athleticism with the ability to finish above the rim, has great size for his position and can score in a multitude of ways. He excelled in the state of Georgia and has continued to thrive during his time at Prolific Prep. Not only is he a great player but he will be a great ambassador for the university and has excelled in the classroom. We couldn’t be more excited to have Derrion and his family join our program.”
Reid is teammates with Aiden Sherrell, another Alabama-signee, at Prolific Prep. The pair gives the Tide two 5-star prospects in the class along with 4-star signee Naas Cunningham.
Alabama now has the No. 4 overall signing class in basketball according to On3 Sports, marking the first time in program history that the Crimson Tide has had four-straight top-15 signing classes.
