The No. 4. Alabama Crimson Tide's season ended with an overtime loss to the No. 1 Michigan Wolverines in overtime.

The season's final play was plagued by an errant snap, an issue the Crimson Tide offense dealt with for the entirety of the year.

With the conclusion of the season comes transition and Nick Kelly of the TuscaloosaNews has reported that Alabama senior center Seth McLaughlin will opt for the transfer portal.

McLaughlin was a 4-star prospect out of Buford High School in the class of 2020. He appeared in 35 games for the Crimson Tide and started in 24. His first significant playing time came at the tail end of the 2021 season when he was thrust into the lineup for the SEC Championship game against the Georgia Bulldogs.

"He does really, really well," said Alabama head coach Nick Saban in August about McLaughlin. "I think when you have veteran guys that sort of have contributed to that it’s good. He’s done a really, really good job. He’s gotten bigger, he’s gotten stronger — he’s always had a tremendous attitude. I don’t think anybody’s ever going to go wrong hiring him. I don’t care what he ends up doing. He’s got the right stuff.”

The center endeared himself to the Alabama fan base as a recruit by making Saban homemade oatmeal creampies on his in-home visit in 2019.

He leaves the Capstone as a two-time SEC Champion and has one more season of eligibility as his class is the final class with an extra COVID-year.
