Some of the players with the best individual performances in the Crimson Tide's first loss of the season were recognized by the coaching staff.

Alabama suffered its first defeat of the season Saturday night inside Bryant-Denny Stadium with a 34-24 loss to then No. 11 Texas. 

Following the loss, the Crimson Tide dropped to No. 10 in the AP Poll and Texas moved up to No. 4. 

There are a lot of issues that need to be corrected from the game, but there were still a few highlight individual performances for the Crimson Tide against the Longhorns. The Alabama coaching staff named six players of the week from the loss– one on offense, two on defense and three on special teams. 

OFFENSE

Kobe Prentice

  • Caught five of his six targets for a team-leading 68 yards receiving
  • Converted three first downs with a long reception of 28 on the night

DEFENSE

Malachi Moore

  • Recorded five tackles and added one pass breakup in his start

Deontae Lawson

  • Finished second on the Tide defense with eight total tackles

SPECIAL TEAMS

James Burnip

  • Accumulated 263 yards on five punts against the Longhorns
  • Averaged 52.6 yards per boot with a career-long 61-yard punt
  • Pinned the Longhorn offense inside the 20 on three of his kicks

Kendrick Law

  • Returned one kickoff for a gain of 18 yards
  • Also contributed on the Tide’s coverage units

Will Reichard

  • Finished with 11 points on the night, converting three field goals to go with a pair of PATs
  • Hit on his three-point tries from 42, 30 and a season-long 51 yards
  • Added five kickoffs for a combined 325 yards with four touchbacks
