The Alabama Crimson Tide season ended on Monday afternoon in a disappointing loss to the Michigan Wolverines 27-20 in overtime. The conclusion of the season brings transitions for players and coaches as decisions are made for the next season.

Alabama wide receiver Shazz Preston has announced his plans to enter the transfer portal, according to On3 Sports.

Preston just finished his redshirt freshman season. He saw action as a reserve receiver and special teamer in 10 games over the last two seasons, mostly against inferior competition.

He was considered a 4-star prospect out of Saint James, La. in the class of 2022. Preston was ranked the No. 8 overall receiver in the class and the No. 5 overall player in Louisiana. He will leave Tuscaloosa and have three years of eligibility remaining.

Preston made minor headlines in 2022 when the Tide played at Mississippi State as he and his brother went head-to-head at the end of the game.

He's Alabama's sixth player to transfer out and the first to do so after the Rose Bowl defeat. The Tide has now seen, technically, three receivers depart during this offseason cycle in Preston, Thaiu Jones-Bell and Ja'Corey Brooks.

Player have a five day window after the Rose Bowl to decide if they want to enter the transfer portal, meaning several more could find their way into the portal before the end of the week.

The Alabama program is currently over its allotment of 85 scholarships when considering the incoming Class of 2024, meaning the Tide needs to see several depart the program by way of the portal or the NFL Draft.
