Former Alabama Crimson Tide head football coach Nick Saban will be joining ESPN in the fall to serve as a college football analyst on its signature pregame show College GameDay on Saturday mornings.

“ESPN and College GameDay have played such an important role in the growth of college football, and I’m honored to have the opportunity to join their team,” Saban in a release announcing the move. “I’ll do my best to offer additional insights and perspectives to contribute to College GameDay, the ultimate Saturday tradition for college football fans.”

Saban's contribution to college football is unmatched as he served as head football coach at Alabama, LSU, Michigan State and Toledo as head coach winning seven national championships. He retired from head coaching on January 10 and already has his next challenge lined up. Outside of becoming a regular contributor to College GameDay there's speculation that Saban will become a contributor to NFL Draft coverage and special SEC programming surrounding conference media days.

“Nick Saban is a singular, iconic presence in college football. He is also an extremely gifted communicator, who will immediately add even more credibility, authority and entertainment value to ESPN, including our esteemed College GameDay show,” ESPN chairman Jimmy Pitaro said in the release.

Saban has been known to participate in post season coverage during seasons that Alabama was eliminated from contention. It was announced that he will join the desk that includes Rece Davis, Desmond Howard, Kirk Herbstreit, Lee Corso and Pat McAfee.
