Jamil Burroughs has a new home, after running into disciplinary issues in Tuscaloosa and hitting the transfer portal this past summer. According to Gabby Urrutia from 247Sports, Burroughs has enrolled at the University of Miami and has been practicing with the Hurricanes this week.

Burroughs was expected to be in the defensive line rotation for the Alabama Crimson Tide but reportedly got into an altercation with members of the coaching staff and found himself facing team discipline.

He entered the transfer portal at the end of June and will get a fresh start in Coral Gables. The former 4-star recruit out of Georgia has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

In three seasons at Alabama he appeared in 20 games, totaling 15 tackles with two sacks. He appeared in 11 games in 2022, forcing 10 quarterback pressures.

Burroughs joins fellow Alabama-transferee in offensive lineman Javion Cohen at Miami. The Hurricanes were 5-7 in 2022 under first-year head coach and former Alabama assistant Mario Cristobal.

He'll join Branson Dean, Leonard Taylor, Thomas Gore and Jared Harrison-Hunte as the 'Canes defensive lineman, but its unclear how soon Burroughs will be called upon.

The Miami Hurricanes open its season on Friday at 6 p.m. as they host Miami of Ohio in Hard Rock Stadium.
