Georgia's Leaders Comment on Jalen Milroe and Tide's Improbable Victory

In this story:
While No. 8 Alabama was biting its fingernails on Saturday night in the middle of the 88th Iron Bowl the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs were warming up for a rivalry game of it's own against the Georgia Tech Yellowjackets.
The Crimson Tide had already qualified for this weekend's SEC Championship Game against the Bulldogs before entering Jordan-Hare Stadium, but a loss would destroy any hope of Alabama returning to the College Football Playoff after a year hiatus.
Trailing by four points, as time dwindled away and facing a fourth down and goal from the 31-yard line, Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe was able to make one of the most improbable plays in rivalry history.
He sat into the pocket and threw a razor to the back left corner of the end zone that was hauled in by Isaiah Bond, giving the Tide the lead and thus keeping playoff hopes alive for another week.
"I saw it after, obviously we had to play Georgia Tech, so I saw it after and I mean what a crazy, wild ending to a game. I know that's one of the biggest rivalries in all of college football, Alabama-Auburn game that is," said Georgia quarterback Carson Beck on Monday, "To see that play, I feel like you see so many crazy plays from the history and past of that game, but watching that was definitely crazy and fun to watch."
Beck didn't need heroics to take down the Yellowjackets. He completed 13 passes for 175 yards with a touchdown and an interception with four other carries for 24 yards while the Dawgs cruised to a 10-point win.
"It's definitely a backyard football type of deal, a backyard kind of throwing it up, especially on fourth and goal, I mean, absolutely insane, just a crazy play,"
The Bulldogs know all about the difficulties of playing in Jordan-Hare Stadium. Auburn gave Georgia its closest contest of the season, a 7-point Bulldog victory in Week 5. The Bulldogs and Tigers took a tie-game into the fourth quarter but Beck and company were able to orchestrate a drive with six minutes remaining in the game to take the lead for good.
Georgia cornerback Kamari Lassiter knows all about the Crimson Tide. He was only a freshman the last time the two schools met on the gridiron but the veteran defensive back spent three years playing high school football in Tuscaloosa.
Lassiter was quick to compliment Milroe and Bond for their completion that saved the season for the Tide.
"That was a very good play on the offenses part. The quarterback was able to have a lot of time and be able to direct what coverage they were in. Their receivers were definitely able to have time to get open and scramble around," said Lassiter on Monday. "So it was just a very good throw and catch, in a very tight ball game and it was a play that they needed and they were able to make that happen"
Georgia center Sedrick Van Pran has been a key contributor for the Bulldogs during their long winning-streak, starting for three seasons in a row, but he admitted that Milroe is a player you can't help but watch.
"Yeah, I think for sure, we're all deep down fans of the game, we try to watch as much football as possible, we try to enjoy competitive games. He'd definitely a guy that in my opinion a lot of athletes have a lot of respect for. He brings a very unique sense to the game. He can extend plays with his legs, he can throw the ball down field. He's really really tough, he's also smart, he doesn't try to take a lot of hits," said Van Pran. "I think he's a really, really good player and I think ultimately because we're all fans of the game we appreciate what he can do and respect what he can do on the field. I think ultimately I think you're right in the sense that as students and fans of the game we definitely respect and try to watch quality football for sure."
The Georgia Bulldogs enter the SEC Championship game as a 5-point favorite, and while the back-to-back champions were in warmups while Alabama was saving its season there's no way the Athens program can ignore what happened.
The Bulldogs may take a lead on Saturday but after seeing the Milroe Miracle the college football world knows the Crimson Tide will have a shot with him in every game.
Alabama-Georgia is a Growing Rivalry with the Magnitude of Success with Each Program
