In this story:

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Three of Nick Saban's keys to success are winning the turnover battle, limiting penalties and limiting explosive plays.

Alabama did none of these things in Saturday's 34-24 loss to Texas Saturday night.

The Crimson Tide came out of the gates strong with the backing of an energetic crowd, forcing a punt on Texas' first possession. Alabama had the momentum moving down the field before a Jalen Milroe interception killed the drive.

And from there, the team never was able to regain the momentum. It seemed like Alabama might have finally gotten it back when it took the lead for the first time on a 49-yard touchdown pass from Milroe to Jermaine Burton with 14 seconds left in the third quarter to go up 16-13.

But before fans could even settle in for the fourth quarter, Texas was already back up 27-16 after a couple explosive plays from quarterback Quinn Ewers and Milroe's second interception.

A 39-yard touchdown from Milroe to Amari Niblack sparked life back into the team and Bryant-Denny stadium crowd as a two-point conversion pulled Alabama back within three points. However, from that point on, the Alabama defense couldn't get off the field as the Longhorns tacked on another touchdown and were able to run out the clock to hand the Crimson Tide its first home loss since 2019.

Watch the video above as BamaCentral's Austin Hannon and Katie Windham share their final thoughts and takeaways from outside Bryant-Denny Stadium after Alabama's 34-24 loss against Texas.
