Nick Saban Teases He'll Text Players Instructions and Updates For Solar Eclipse

In this story:
When No. 11 Alabama hosts Arkansas on Saturday at 11 a.m. CT in Tuscaloosa the homecoming festivities won't be the only distraction to overcome. Fans in the stands and both teams are faced with a unique weather event expected to occur in the second quarter.
Meteorologists expect a partial solar eclipse to occur, creating unique circumstances and potential challenges for all in attendance.
Last week's media guest for "Hey Coach" on Crimson Tide Sports Network was ABC 33/40's James Spann who informed Alabama head coach Nick Saban of the pending wrinkle in the weather forecast.
"I think you have to prepare your team for every distraction. I actually think we should — the best way to do that would be to text it to them, so they can read it on their phones," said Saban on Wednesday. "Sometimes they don’t listen, but if you text it to them, they’ll read it. That might be a new technique that we try. We’ll text them what they’re supposed to do on the field, they’ll probably get it then."
Saban cracked a crooked smile as he commented on his player's preferred communication method during his mid-week press conference. He famously recently learned to use texting but has always been vocal about his preference of talking on the phone in a traditional fashion when he can't meet face to face.
Attendees of this weekend's game are encouraged not to look into the partial solar eclipse as it can be damaging to people's eyes. It likely won't last long, but whatever Saban's instructions are to his players will likely be delivered in whatever form the Crimson Tide head coach finds most impactful.
