In this story:

Former Alabama offensive coordinator Tommy Rees appears to be headed to the NFL as he's working on a deal with the Cleveland Browns, per The Athletic's Zac Jackson.

"Sources: The Browns are working to hire Tommy Rees as tight ends coach, and he’ll have a role in the overall development of the pass game," Jackson writes. "His exact title is uncertain and the hire is not yet official."

If Rees' name is inked on a Browns contract, he'll be developing a standout tight end room, which includes 2023 Pro Bowler David Njoku. Backups Harrison Bryant and Jordan Akins also showed some potential flashes this season.

Additionally, Cleveland has four Crimson Tide products that Rees will have the opportunity to impact: wide receiver Amari Cooper, offensive linemen Jedrick Wills Jr. and Alex Leatherwood and defensive lineman Dalvin Tomlinson.

The Browns fell to the Houston Texans in the AFC Wildcard after posting an 11-6 record—Cleveland's best since 2020 and third double-digit winning season since 2007.

The 31-year-old was hired by the Crimson Tide on Feb. 3, 2023. Rees helped pull the offensive strings all the way to the College Football Playoff semifinal this past season. Additionally, he's helped pave the way for numerous players on his side of the ball to declare for the 2024 NFL Draft.

Washington's Kalen DeBoer was hired to replace seven-time National Champion head coach Saban on Jan. 12 and he's brought numerous former Huskies staff members with him, including offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb. Grubb is expected to replace Tommy Rees.

This story will be updated when Rees is officially hired.
