Depth Chart: What Gunner Britton does to the starting offensive line

Auburn picked up a sure thing at offensive tackle.

Gunner Britton is probably Auburn's biggest edition in this modern era of college football via the transfer portal.

Last season at Western Kentucky, Britton played over 1,000 snaps for the Hilltoppers last season and was incredibly effective. According to PFF, he scored a 77.2 grade. His pass block grade of 83.9 was 24th nationally among tackles. He had a career-high 84.4 grade in 2021.

He instantly becomes the favorite to start at left tackle in 2023 for the Auburn Tigers.

Auburn will more than likely add other bodies to the offensive line via the transfer portal but after the addition of Britton, here's our guess at the starting offensive line entering 2023.

Left tackle - Gunner Britton

Left guard - Jeremiah Wright

Center - Connor Lew

Right guard - Izavion Miller

Right tackle - Dillon Wade

The fact that four of the five guys on this projected lineup are newcomers speak to the job that Hugh Freeze and his coaching staff have done to reconstruct the position group and roster.

Miller was recruited as a top junior college option. It will be fun to see the battle for the right side of the line between him, Wade, and the other members of the Auburn offensive line.
