Auburn football had some key pieces back out of spring practice either injured or hurt and in need of surgery.

Hugh Freeze spoke with the media at SEC Media Days and gave an update on the players that were hurt just a few months ago.

According to Freeze, offensive linemen Jeremiah Wright and Kameron Stutts "are good."

Wright appeared in seven games last season and played 234 snaps. Stutts, one of the Tigers' selections to represent the team at media days, played in all 12 games at guard for Auburn in 2022. Both Wright and Stutts are expected to start once again for offensive line coach Jake Thornton in the fall. At the very least they'll compete for starting spots.

Backup center Tate Johnson is healthy after suffering an elbow injury.

When asked about RB Brian Battie, who underwent foot surgery this offseason, Freeze paused with a dismayed look on his face. "(Battie) is going to suck it up and go," Freeze said."You know, I wish I felt a little better about his surgery and maybe I'm just pushing it a little too. I want it faster."

North Texas WR transfer Jyaire Shorter is doing better but Freeze noted that the Tigers are "going to manage him some." until he gets fully healthy. "I think he's a receiver that can help us, but we got to manage him a little bit," Freeze said. WR Malcolm Johnson Jr. is also

Cornerback JD Rhym is "also back going," according to Freeze.

"I think we're in a pretty good spot sitting here today."
