New recruiting rule adopted by the D1 council could really benefit Auburn

Beginning on July 1st of this year, recruits are no longer limited to five official visits.

Getting recruits on campus as many times as they can is a high priority for Auburn. The reason being is that Auburn believes if they can get recruits on campus to see their facilities and meet their coaches they will definitely get more signatures and commitments.

Today the NCAA D1 council adopt a proposal for student-athlete representation and supports the holistic model concept in approving changes to official visits meaning that starting July 1 of this year recruits are no longer limited to five official visits.

This especially benefits schools, such as Auburn, which have such wonderful campuses and coaching staffs that are like family to . This is a huge change in the recruiting cycle. Auburn staff no longer has to worry about trying to cram things in just a few official visits, and can enjoy a more leisurely pace when it comes to talking to and spending time with their recruits.

There are other rule changes that the NCAA division 1 Council is considering including

Schools would have 33 evaluation days (42 for U.S. service academies) during the months of September, October and November to be picked by the school. Only authorized off-campus recruiters could visit a prospect’s high school and on just one calendar day during this period.

The Monday of the week that includes the initial date for the regular signing period of the National Letter of Intent through the first Sunday in March would be a dead period.

For service academies, the Friday immediately after the initial date for the regular signing period of the National Letter of Intent through the first Sunday in March would be a quiet period.

At the discretion of the membership school, coaches would have 140 recruiting person days (180 for U.S. service academies) from April 15 through the Saturday preceding Memorial Day for a contact period.

The Sunday before Memorial Day and the next three calendar days would be a dead period.
