Baylor Men's Basketball Set to Host Arkansas in 2023 SEC/Big 12 Challenge

Bears hoops program will face Razorbacks at the Ferrell Center on Jan. 28, 2023

The Baylor men's basketball program will host the SEC/Big 12 Challenge on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023, as the Bears battle the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Tipoff time for Saturday's showdown at the Ferrell Center is yet to be determined.

Baylor and Arkansas are former Southwest Conference foes and have faced one another 144 times -- with the Razorbacks holding a 97-47 all-time record over the Bears.

However, the two teams have met just three times since Arkansas' departure from the Southwest Conference back in 1991 -- with Baylor holding a 2-1 series advantage and the Bears most recent win coming in an 81-72 Elite Eight victory over the Razorbacks in 2021.

Following that victory over Arkansas, coach Scott Drew and the Bears advanced to their first Final Four in 71 years en route to the 2021 national championship.

According to BaylorBears.com, the men's basketball team has the best overall record in the annual SEC/Big 12 Challenge, in both conferences, with a 7-2 mark.

Adam Flagler, Flo Thamba, Dale Bonner, LJ Cryer, Jordan Turner, Langston Love, Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua, Zach Loveday and Austin Sacks are all returning for Baylor -- along with newcomers Keyonte George, Joshua Ojianwuna, Dantwan Grimes (JUCO transfer), Jalen Bridges (West Virginia transfer) and Caleb Lohner (BYU transfer) -- as coach Drew and the Bears boast another deep roster for the 2022-23 season.

Baylor enters the season after going 27-7 last year (14-4 Big 12; regular season champs), eventually falling to North Carolina in overtime, 93-86, in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
