BYU Wide Receivers Kody Epps and Keanu Hill are 'Day-to-Day'

In BYU's season opener against Sam Houston State, starting wide receivers Kody Epps and Keanu Hill did not play due to lingering injuries from Fall camp. On Wednesday, BYU offensive coordinator was asked about their status for Southern Utah. "We're trying to get them back," Roderick said. "It's a day-to-day thing. [The injuries] are not serious, season-threatening type things. I just have to work with whoever is available."
Epps and Hill were the two most productive wide receivers that returned from last season. They tallied 1,031 yards and 13 touchdowns combined. Their veteran presence was missed on Saturday as BYU's offense failed to get in a rhythm.
BYU finished with only 14 points and 257 yards against Sam Houston State. BYU quarterback Kedon Slovis was 20/33 for 145 yards. The longest passing play of the day was an 18-yard complete to Darius Lassiter.
Southern Utah presents a unique challenge for the BYU offense. Roderick said SUU's defense is just as good as Sam Houston's, perhaps even better. The Thunderbirds allowed only 24 points against Arizona State.
Additionally, the Cougars will not have the element of surprise on its side when they are on offense. Southern Utah runs the exact same offense as BYU. Roderick noted that they even use the same verbiage.
BYU has one more week to find an offensive rhythm before it faces 10 consecutive Power Five teams beginning with Arkansas. The Cougars need to find a way to be more explosive, avoid mistakes, and score with consistency.
