SP+ Predicts BYU's Season Opener Against Sam Houston State

After a long offseason full of recruiting, transfer portal, and conference realignment, college football is finally back. Kalani Sitake and the BYU football program kick off their 2023 campaign against the Sam Houston State Bearkats. BYU will be competing for the first time as a member of the Big 12, while Sam Houston will be competing for the first time as an FBS program.
SP+, a predictive analytics tool created by ESPN's Bill Connelly, cemented its BYU-Sam Houston prediction earlier this week. SP+ gives BYU a 92% chance to win with a projected final score of 36-11 in favor of the Bears.
As of this writing, the betting lines favor BYU by 20 points, so SP+ is higher on BYU's chances than the oddsmakers.
