Pinging The Portal: UC Contacts North Dakota Forward Grant Nelson

Cincinnati has one roster spot remaining for next season.

CINCINNATI — The Bearcats are in contact with North Dakota State transfer center Grant Nelson. He has two years of eligibility left.

The 2022-23 First Team All-Summit League player had a breakout season in 2022-23, nearly averaging a double-double at 17.9 points and 9.3 rebounds per game, to go with 1.7 blocks per outing.

Over 30 major programs have reached out to Nelson since he entered the transfer portal on May 2.

He is a 6-foot-10, 235-pound force that can shoot a little bit but is most effective off the dribble and near the rim. He handles the ball very well for a near 7-footer, and it allows him to get downhill with nice success.

The dude can throw down some hammer slams and would be a nice fit in UC's front court as the program has one roster spot to play with.
