CINCINNATI — Tre Tucker is vying for a roster spot and potentially a carved role on the Las Vegas Raiders 2023 roster. The Athletic's Tashan Reed spoke to a few people close to Tucker's journey about his game.

One of those voices was Indianapolis Colts second-year receiver Alec Pierce.

“He always had the speed to get open, but once he got that technique down, you just saw a lot of growth in his game,” Tucker's former Cincinnati teammate said. “With his route running and his technique, he really fine-tuned some things and was way more efficient in his breaks and when it came to getting open. And then I think his hands continued to get better. That’s only something that he’s going to keep on getting better at as long as he keeps working at it.”

Pierce caught his stride as the 2022 NFL season went on, finishing with 41 catches for 593 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Tucker has a chance to post similar numbers with Vegas as the 100th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

“He’s someone that can get you explosive plays whether it be hitting him on a deep over route for a big gain or getting him the ball on a screen or a jet sweep,” Pierce said. “And then I think he’ll have an instant impact in the kickoff game as a returner. … If they want him out there to play gunner, he’ll go out there and play gunner and make tackles. He’s just a winner, competitive, and somebody who can do whatever it takes to win the game.”
