Malik Vann on UC's Defensive Line: 'One of The Best Units We've Had'

The sixth-year player has seen some great fronts in his UC career.

CINCINNATI — UC defensive end Malik Vann is ready to see his unit lead the Bearcats in 2023. The sixth-year player is part of the defensive line's first wave alongside Dontay Corleone and Jowon Briggs.

He discussed how impactful the unit could be in 2023.

"We have the depth, we have two returning All-Conference caliber players," Vann said in Friday's media session. "It's one of the best units we've had. It's one of the best units on the team that we have right now and excited to get going."

Unfortunately, Vann only played in two games last year due to a pectoral injury, but it meant a sixth season in Clifton with one of the best front lines he's ever been a part of. He has 90 tackles, 22 tackles for loss and nine sacks in 49 career games as a Bearcat.

Cincinnati's defense starts with that front and builds off of it through the linebackers and secondary. A big season from Vann paired with the two athletic freaks next to him could spell a few surprise results from Cincinnati.
