Arthur Blank: 'We Feel Pretty Strongly' Desmond Ridder's Going to be Falcons' Quarterback of The Future

The UC legend is starting at quarterback to open training camp.

CINCINNATI — Atlanta Falcons quarterback Desmond Ridder is hard at work during his first training camp as a starter in the NFL and he got a nice stamp of approval from owner Arthur Blank on Tuesday.

The legendary Bearcat is the greatest quarterback in program history and the Falcons "QB of the future."

"I like our young quarterback," Blank said. "People just look at those last four games last year and say, 'Oh, those four games.' But really he progressed from the time he came on campus here. Had a good (training) camp.

"Think he worked well with (Marcus) Mariota last year. Learned a lot from Marcus. He's a learner. Got a lot of humility and as the year progressed. He had an opportunity to play, and I think he played at a very competitive level. Last four games, each game seemed to be a little bit better. And so we feel pretty strongly that he's gonna be our quarterback of the future. We gotta play games and we gotta see. But we feel good about him.

Ridder hasn't been lighting it up in training camp thus far but has reportedly gotten better as the work moves along.
