CINCINNATI — The Seattle Seahawks selected former Bearcats cornerback Coby Bryant with the 109th pick of the 2022 NFL Draft and he already has expectations to contribute from Day One. PFF listed Bryant as one of the Day Three rookies best positioned to contribute during their rookie season.

"Seattle is thin at cornerback and implementing a new defensive system under Clint Hurtt," Anthony Treash wrote. "And while Coby Bryant — Seattle’s selection at 109th overall — can hang at the line of scrimmage, he fits best in a two-high system that will give him a higher rate of off-coverage opportunities — just like the one they'll be running in Seattle this year.

"Bryant has an innate feel in zone coverage and wins with his mirror ability and ball skills. Those traits helped him to 47 combined interceptions plus breakups in his career at Cincinnati. With some of his physical limitations — underwhelming speed and length, along with some tightness — Bryant looked like a boom-or-bust player every week in college, but this system could help him find success. I wouldn’t put it past him to be more productive than one could imagine for a Day 3 rookie."

The versatile coverage maven is already in Seattle, having gone through rookie minicamp this past week. Bryant told The Athletic's Michael-Shawn Dugar that it's been hard for him not to play the ball during the non-contact periods in practice.

“We’re really not supposed to go for the ball," Bryant told Dugar last week. "But the competitive guy I am, the first thing I do is try and go for the ball; it’s extremely tough, especially for me. I like to show off my ball skills — obviously not right there because I dropped. But that’s the thing biggest thing, still adjusting to the NFL life, one step at a time.”

The 2021 Jim Thorpe Award winner is well on his way towards NFL production and won't have to restrict himself from intercepting the football for much longer.
