Pinging The Portal: UC Offers Purdue Linebacker Jacob Wahlberg

Cincinnati has added one linebacker this cycle in New Mexico transfer Dion Hunter.

The three-star 2019 recruit appeared in 17 career games for Purdue, including 14 last season. He posted 48 total tackles, 2 interceptions, and 1 forced fumble during his time as a Boilermaker.

Wahlberg entered the transfer portal earlier this week and has two years of eligibility remaining. He’s also received offers from Michigan State, West Virginia, Western Michigan, and Appalachian State.

The 6-foot-4, 235-pound veteran struggled last season, tallying a 54.4 overall PFF grade on 341 snaps. That mark ranked 36th out of 46 eligible Big 10 linebackers last season. He missed nearly 20% of his 2022 tackle attempts (45.7 tackling grade).
