UC Kicker Ryan Coe Named to Lou Groza Award Preseason Watchlist

CINCINNATI — Is it even a preseason watchlist if it doesn't have a UC player on it?

The Bearcats football team notched another name to a prominent list on Wednesday, with kicker Ryan Coe on the shortlist of players to watch for this season's Lou Groza Award.

Coe is now the fourth Bearcats transfer to crack a preseason watchlist.

He ended the 2021 season t-21st among FCS kickers with an 82.4% made FG rate (14 of 17 FGs, long of 51 yards). He went 23-of-23 on extra points for the Delaware Blue Hens last season.

Cincinnati finished 2021 ranked 129th-out of-130 FBS teams in team field goal percentage (43.75%). Northwestern was the only team worse than the Bearcats. Coe is tasked with turning that all the way around in an upcoming season where UC could need all the points possible during closer matchups.
