UC's Tyler Scott, Wil Huber Discuss Impact of Indiana Victory, Tulsa Prep, and More

The veteran players are already hard at work getting ready to face the Golden Hurricane.

CINCINNATI — UC wide receiver Tyler Scott and linebacker Wil Huber spoke with the media on Tuesday. Here are some of the best quotes from the session.

Tyler Scott

On How He Feels About Saturday's Three-Touchdown Game:

I had five drops. So that kind of ruined my night in our second half, you know, it wasn't everybody, but I know personally I could be a lot better, especially in the second half, which kind of is partly why we played not so well. But no, I mean I'm grateful for any of the opportunities that I had in orderliness you know, in the first half, so, but yeah, kind of was wearing over to five drops that I had.

On Tulsa Being A Strong Opponent For The Bearcats:

I mean, Tulsa has probably been one of our toughest matchups that we've had these past couple of years, and they've always had our game circled. But at the end of the day, Coach Fick always talks about finding a way to win, And that's what the great teams do they find a way to win, and you know, definitely last year we had a lot of older guys who have been in a lot of these situations, you know, but we'll see this year it's gonna be a good opportunity and you know they're a good team coming in. They've had a couple good, hard-fought games. They've shown they are very promising.

On Alec Pierce Paving The Way For Younger UC Wideouts:

Oh, definitely. I mean, you learn, you know, you learn, you watch. You just take different notes and things of that nature as you're growing up in the last year. And I ended up starting last year, my sophomore year, but one thing I recognized was just the people around me what was going on, you know, we had a lot of guys with a lot of different opportunities, especially offensively. And so just really recognizing, you know, what's going on around me. And just knowing like, it's kind of their time right now, you know, and it's kind of their time to take that next step. And while they're doing that, I'm learning, you know, and then when opportunities came my way, you know, I tried to make the best of it.

Wil Huber

On How He Felt After Playing 104 Snaps:

To be honest, better than I thought it was gonna feel. I thought me and Jaheim [Thomas] and the rotation we had kept us both fresh. So, on my part, I felt pretty good. I think the team felt pretty good as a whole. I think it was a pretty clean game for everybody coming out of it. And it was difficult, and it's something situation that we're not in very much playing that 104 plays, and I thought we handled it really well. Came out on Sunday for the most part ready to go, and we got after it Sunday preparing for this week up ahead.

On His Freedom To Roam From Will To Middle Linebacker:

I think we have like a kind of distinct you know set of rules, but you know we try to play to each other's strengths. Ivan's [Pace Jr.] really good you know up in the line, getting off blocks, making guys miss, and I think that I can use my length a little more to my advantage for jumping in holes in coverage, making it harder for quarterbacks to throw balls over me. So you know, depending on what the situation is we kind of have a little bit of freedom. But for the most part, you know, we kind of have a set, set of rules that we go by.

On Ivan Pace Jr.'s Comfortability In The Locker Room:

So when Ivan first got here, he was definitely very, very quiet. And I think that speaks to him, as you know, as a person. He really just got here and came to work. You know, for that first kind of six, seven months he was here. He really didn't say a whole lot. He just kind of (kept) to himself. You know, but more recently, I think he's starting to become really comfortable in the locker room and around all the guys, and he's kinda started coming to life a little bit. And I'm not sure what that switch was, but you can't really shut him up now. I think it's you know, a comfortability level around everybody.

So in the locker room, he's he's kind of the new energy guy, which you know, we need more of those guys. Every locker room needs, some energy guys, and he's definitely one of them nowadays.
