Watch: UC DL Coach Walt Stewart on Being Back at UC, Syncing the Front Seven, and More

Stewart has helped UC's front seven avoid a drop off from last season.

CINCINNATI — UC defensive line coach Walt Stewart is back home in Clifton. The Bearcats' alum played on the defensive line from 2008-12.

Stewart is one of the best defenders in program history. Over 43 games, he won four Big East Championships—while totaling 185 tackles, 34.5 tackles for loss, 17.5 sacks, and eight forced fumbles. He is ninth in school history in career sacks and tied for second in forced fumbles.

Now, he's molding the latest great UC trench unit, one that lost a pair of key players to the NFL last year. Yet, it's been hard to tell given UC's top-five national ranking in tackles for loss and sacks.

Stewart and I chatted after practice this week about his return to UC, how his guys are playing, plus, continuity between linebackers and the defensive line.
