Report: Arizona Leaving Pac-12 For Big 12, 'Plan' to Announce Move Over Weekend
CINCINNATI — Arizona is reportedly headed to the Big 12 alongside Colorado in 2024.
Wildcat Authority's Jason Scheer reported the news as the school’s Board of Regents came to the conclusion on Thursday night. They have formally applied for entry into the Big 12 and league has accepted.
"Things can change, but the plan is for there to be an official announcement from Arizona tomorrow," Scheer tweeted.
Arizona State and Utah could be close behind as they "ramp up talks" with the league according to ESPN's Pete Thamel. The four corner school dream is getting closer to reality in Big 12 country.
Arizona now make 14 schools for the new-look league starting next year. A few years after the Big 12 showed some weakness with Texas and Oklahoma leaving, things are much more stable.
The Pac-12's streaming media deal with Apple wasn't enough to keep them around for the long term. Action Network's Brett McMurphy reports that the proposed deal expires at the end of this week and is below the Big 12's new annual media payout of $31.7 million per school
