NFL Organization Hosting Former Bulldog Amarius Mims
The Cincinnati Bengals are scheduled to host former Georgia Bulldog Amarius Mims ahead of the 2024 NFL draft.
The 2024 NFL draft is a few weeks out and teams are starting to finalize their picture of who they potentially might take in the first. The Georgia Bulldogs have several former players who are being targeted as first-round evaluations, and one of them has a meeting scheduled with an NFL organization.
Offensive tackle Amarius Mims is viewed as one of the top players and offensive linemen in this year’s class. It was announced on Wednesday that the Cincinnati Bengals will be hosting the former Bulldog today.
The Bengals have the 18th overall pick in the first round and that fits the current projection for Mims. He isn’t viewed as one of the first tackles to come off the board this year, but he fits the mold of teams looking to add a tackle to their roster in the back end of the first round. The Bengals have struggled to protect quarterback Joe Burrow over the years, and Mims would help fill the void.
During the 2023 season, Mims played seven games at right tackle and started in six for the Bulldogs. An ankle injury kept him on the sidelines for several weeks in the middle of the season, but when he was available, he played like a future pro. At the NFL combine, Mims measured in at 6-foot-8 and 340 pounds. He also ran a 5.07 in the 40-yard dash event but his day was cut short due to a lower body injury.
Mims is athletic as they come at the position and is more than capable of protecting the quarterback from the tackle spot. There have been some questions due to his lack of experience and some injury history, but that doesn’t appear to be deterring teams from viewing him as a first-round prospect.
