Georgia running back Roderick Robinson II (0) breaks away for a big gain

A Look at Georgia's Rushing Attack Without Andrew Paul

Sophomore running back Andrew Paul is hitting the Transfer Portal. Here's what Georgia's depth chart looks like at running back now.

Georgia suffered its first of its losses to the Transfer Portal Monday afternoon as running back Andrew Paul announced he's entering the portal during the spring window which runs from April 16th to April 30th.

Paul isn't likely to be the last Bulldog to enter the portal after looking at the depth chart following spring practice. The redshirt sophomore back was projected to be Georgia's fourth running back option, but his departure still hurts.

Georgia's running back room

Florida transfer Trevor Etienne will earn most of the touches this fall at running back. He's a versatile threat, operating just as well in the passing game as he does running the rock. Unfortunately, he'll likely miss Georgia's opener in Atlanta against Clemson due to his DUI arrest earlier this spring.

Roderick Robinson will carry a lot of the load next to Etienne. The 240 pound back is a load to tackle and has improved in the passing game as well. Georgia head coach Kirby Smart pointed to pass protection as an area that needs improvement, but Robinson's size and speed will earn him a lot of touches early.

Georgia's also hoping Branson Robinson will be ready to go by fall camp. The former five star was a stud as a freshman in 2022, but suffered a knee injury prior to last season that has kept him sidelined. If he can return to form, he'll likely find his way up the depth chart.

The Bulldogs also have junior running back Cash Jones back for another season. Jones has been a victory cigar for much of his career, but he's delivered when he's been called upon in big spots. Freshman Chauncey Bowens is a big back at 225 and showed during the spring game that he can tote the rock with the best of him. Georgia would love to feature him on special teams, but he's capable of spelling some of the veteran backs if need be.

Andrew Paul won't be the last Georgia player in the portal this spring. Luckily for the Dawgs, they've stacked elite recruiting classes and hit on some big transfer signings of their own.
