Conference championship weekend has arrived for the 2025 college football season, as a handful of noteworthy teams face off for the crown of their respective conferences. One of the biggest matchups of the weekend is set to take place between Georgia and Alabama, who will face off for the SEC Championship game.

Georgia and Alabama have been no strangers to big moments. Of the past eight matchups between these two schools, four have been for conference championships, and two have been for national championships. They have all been ranked matchups.

While the Dawgs and Tide have shared the stage for a handful of massive moments, it has been Alabama that has earned the upper hand more times than not. The Tide is currently on a three game win streak against Georgia, and has won nine of the previous 10 meetings.

One of those wins took place earlier this regular season when Alabama handed Georgia a 27-24 defeat in Athens. The loss snapped a more-than-30-game win streak for the Bulldogs in Sanford Stadium, and remains the team's only loss this season.

Despite defeating Georgia in Athens, the Crimson Tide is heading into this matchup with a worse record than the Dawgs, as they have suffered defeats to Oklahoma and Florida State heading into the matchup.

During pregame warmups, it's worth noting that center Malachi Toliver was warming up with Gunner Stockton. Looks like he will be the one getting the nod to start today in the absence of Drew Bobo. Cortez Smith also rotated in and took snaps with Stockton.

First Quarter:

  • (15:00): Alabama wins the toss and elected to defer. Georgia will receive the ball first. Georgia will take over at the 25-yard line after the touchback. After a nice play from Zachariah Branch on the first play of the game to pick up a first down, a holding call on second down and a loss on the next down put Georgia behind the sticks. Stockton takes off on third down but fails to pick up a first. Alabama will take over at their own 19-yard line after the punt.
  • (12:00): Alabama goes three and out on their first drive after two rushes from Daniel Hill and a handoff to Horton which is stuffed at the line. Georgia will take over at their own 30-yard line after the punt.
  • (9:54): Georgia takes a loss of yards on first down after Stockton checks it down to Josh McCray. An incomplete pass on second down leads to 3rd and 14. Cash Jones comes up just a yard short on third down from the first down marker. Alabama will take over at their own 8-yard line after the punt.
  • (8:28): Alabama picks up a first down on the first play off a throw from Simpson. A two yard gain from Hill sets up third and 8. Simpson is stuffed at the line by Gabe Harris which sets up third and long which gets Bama off the field. Georgia then blocks the punt and takes over at Alabama's 20-yard line.
  • (6:310: On the first play, Frazier picks up a first down to get Georgia inside the 10-yard line. On third down, Stockton finds Roderick Robinson in the end zone for a TOUCHDOWN.
  • (4:36): Alabama takes over at their own 25-yard line after the touchback. On third and seven, Simspon connects with Williams for a big gain to get Alabama near midfield. On 3rd and 6, Simpson's pass is deflected and picked off by Daylen Everette. Everette is called for a facemask on the return.

A victory would also help the Dawgs achieve program history, as it would be Georgia's first-ever instance of back-to-back SEC Championship titles. It would also practically guarantee the Bulldogs earn a first-round bye in this year's College Football Playoff.

Regardless of today's outcome, Georgia has earned the right to appear in this year's playoff, and a victory or defeat would only affect the team's seeding moving forward. The College Football Playoff committee will officially make its selections on Sunday, December 7th.

Kickoff for today's game is scheduled to begin at approximately 4:00 p.m. in Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Coverage for this event will be made nationally available on ABC.
