Former Gonzaga walk-on Noah Haaland signs first professional contract

The 6-foot-9 forward from Rathdrum, Idaho, will continue his career overseas after two seasons with the Zags

Former Gonzaga Bulldogs forward Noah Haaland is set to begin his professional career in Spain after signing a contract with Hestia Menorca late last week, according to an announcement by the team on social media.

Hestia Menorca is located on the Spanish Balearic island of Menorca and competes in Spain's second division league, Primera FEB.

The 6'9 forward becomes the third of Gonzaga's five departed seniors to sign a professional contract, following All-American big man Graham Ike and shooting guard Adam Miller. Ike signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Golden State Warriors shortly after the NBA draft concluded, while Miller recently inked a deal with Oostende in Belgium, where he'll replace former Zag guard Silas Melson.

Haaland’s Gonzaga career

Haaland is from Rathdrum, ID, about 30 miles east of Spokane, where he starred at Lakeland High School - earning All-4A Inland Empire League honors as a junior and a senior while leading the Hawks into the 4A state tournament back in 2021.

The 24-year-old began his college career at Allan Hancock Junior College in California, spending three years there while missing one full season with injury. He ended up back in the Inland Northwest with Gonzaga in 2024 and appeared in 13 total games across two seasons, starting once on senior night this past year against the Portland Pilots.

Haaland scored 20 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in 54 minutes in his Gonzaga career, doing most of his damage in a mid-January home game against Pepperdine. With both Braden Huff and Graham Ike sidelined with injuries, Haaland dropped 10 points with four rebounds (three offensive) on perfect 4-4 shooting, 2-2 from the line, in 11 minutes in Gonzaga's 24-point victory.

The 6'9 big man also had four points and two rebounds in three minutes against LMU and played six minutes at Seattle U when the two starting bigs were on the shelf.

"I mean, to be honest, he's been doing that the last two years, and he's very worthy of getting this time; he was just playing behind two All-Americans," coach Few said after the Pepperdine game. "This isn't an out of body experience. This is kind of what we've been seeing every day in practice. We have confidence in him."

Gonzaga’s departing class

Miller and Haaland are the first of Gonzaga's five departing seniors to sign overseas, although they may not be the last.

Ike should get a real chance to earn a two-way contract with the Warriors, which would allow him to make his NBA debut in 2026-27 after earning Third Team All-America honors this past season with Gonzaga.

Ike was joined by two other Zags from last year's team at summer league, Jalen Warley and Tyon Grant-Foster, who suited up for the Indiana Pacers and San Antonio Spurs, respectively.

TGF averaged 2.0 points and 3.0 rebounds in three games with the Spurs, struggling to find playing time after not getting a chance to work out with teams before the draft while he was awaiting medical clearance.

Warley averaged 13.7 minutes in three games with the Pacers, but shot just 2-14 from the field and 0-3 from three, which hampered his chance of earning a training camp invite.

It remains to be seen where Grant-Foster and Warley will end up this upcoming season, with plenty of opportunities to stay in the G League or sign overseas.
