Indiana Hosting Official Visits for Five Top-50 Recruits in September

Mike Woodson and the Indiana coaching staff have a busy schedule in September, with official visits scheduled for Liam McNeeley, Derik Queen, Curtis Givens III, Austin Swartz and Annor Boateng – all top-50 recruits in the class of 2024.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – September is a crucial month for the future of Indiana basketball.

Annor Boateng and Curtis Givens III recently joined the list of highly-ranked recruits to schedule official visits to Indiana. Givens will visit Bloomington on Sept. 8, alongside his fellow Montverde Academy teammates Liam McNeeley and Derik Queen, and Boateng will visit Indiana on Sept. 29, according to a report from On3's Joe Tipton.

With the addition of Boateng and Givens, Indiana now has official visits scheduled with five top-50 players in September alone. Here's the full list.

  • Sept. 8 – Liam McNeeley, Derik Queen, Curtis Givens III
  • Sept. 15 – Austin Swartz
  • Sept. 29 – Annor Boateng

McNeeley and Queen have long been priority recruiting targets for coach Mike Woodson and staff. They took a junior year official visit to Bloomington last September, and will do so again in a few weeks. Both are consensus five-star recruits in the class of 2024, with Queen ranked No. 10 and McNeeley at No. 11 in the ESPN Top 100.

At 6-foot-7, McNeeley is one of the top high school 3-point shooters, and he recently discussed his skillset and recruitment in an exclusive interview with HoosiersNow.com reporter Daniel Olinger. In June, McNeeley announced a top-six list of Alabama, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Oklahoma and Texas.

Queen is ranked second among high school centers, behind Flory Bidunga, who recently committed to Kansas. For an in-depth breakdown of Queen's game, check out this film study article by Olinger. While Queen has not narrowed down his list of schools, Maryland and Indiana are considered the top contenders.

Indiana offered Givens back in April, when he had huge weekend for MOKAN Elite on the Nike EYBL Circuit, including two 28-point games, 40.7 percent 3-point shooting, 19 total assists and just two turnovers across four games.

Like McNeeley and Queen, Givens attends Montverde Academy, a top high school basketball program in the nation that consistently produces NBA talent. Givens, a 6-foot-2 point guard, is a consensus four-star recruit and ranked No. 39 in the nation, per the ESPN Top 100.

Swartz is a 6-foot-4 shooting guard out of Cannon School in Concord, N.C. He's a consensus four-star prospect, ranked No. 49 in the ESPN Top 100. Playing for Boo Williams on the Nike EYBL Circuit, Swartz is teammates with fellow Indiana recruiting target Jaeden Mustaf, who visited Indiana in June.

Swartz's top-eight list includes Indiana, Miami, Clemson, UConn, Florida State, Notre Dame, Georgia and Virginia Tech.

Boateng is the most recent player to add an Indiana official visit to his schedule. A 6-foot-5 small forward, Boateng is four-star recruit and ranked No. 28 in the nation in the ESPN Top 100. He was named the 2022-23 Arkansas Boys Basketball Gatorade Player of the Year during his junior year at Little Rock Central High School

Indiana offered Boateng in April and made his top-eight list, which also includes Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Mizzou, Ohio State and LSU. Boateng plays for the Arkansas Hawks on the Adidas 3SSB circuit.

Annor Boateng practices with Team USA in Houston, Texas.

Indiana does not currently have any commitments in the class of 2024, but perhaps McNeeley, Queen or Givens III will get the ball rolling when they begin a string of official visits to Bloomington on Sept. 8.
