Indiana Women's Basketball Recruit Jules LaMendola Wins Texas Ms. Basketball

Indiana women's basketball recruit Julianna LaMendola was announced as this year's Texas Ms. Basketball. She is also the Texas Gatorade Player of the Year and will suit up for the Hoosiers in the 2023-24 season.

COPPELL, Texas — Indiana women's basketball 2023-24 recruit Julianna 'Jules' LaMendola is the new Texas Ms. Basketball. The guard from Coppell, Texas is one of two recruits for the Hoosiers this upcoming season.

The 6-foot-1 guard started off her high school career as a zero-star player with no power five college offers her sophomore year. That narrative changed quickly as LaMendola became a four-star player and the Texas Gatorade Player of the Year in just two seasons.

She led the Coppell High School Cowgirls to their best season in program history as they finished with a 38-4 season record and a chance to compete at the 6A state semifinals at the Aladome. LaMendola averaged 17.4 points, 9.2 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game in her senior year.

The Hoosiers only said goodbye to four players this season in guard Grace Berger and forward Alyssa Geary to graduation and forwards Kiandra Browne and Mona Zaric to the transfer portal.

With most of the starters returning, that means the Indiana 2023-24 recruiting class is limited to LaMendola and Lisle, Ill. native Lenée Beaumont, who is also her state's Gatorade Player of the Year and Illinois Ms. Basketball.

Although 14 hours apart by car, LaMendola and Beaumont are winning the same awards and preparing hard in their own unique ways to fit into the Hoosier lifestyle. Beaumont in a past interview said she and LaMendola are already best friends and will most likely room together in the freshman dorms.

The future keeps getting brighter for Indiana as head coach Teri Moren and her staff know how to recruit the best of the best players in their respective states.
