It's an early tip for the Jayhawks as they battle the Cyclones up in Ames for a guarantee of at least second in the conference pecking order.

The Kansas Jayhawks defeated the Kansas State Wildcats on Tuesday to get some momentum back towards their goal of finishing the season with the best record in conference play. And they got some help from the Texas Tech Red Raiders, who upset one of the teams still ahead of them, and today's opponent: The Iowa State Cyclones. And an unexpected two-game losing streak for Iowa State has ramped up the already crucial game in both the conference race and the fight for NCAA Tournament positioning.

Since their last meeting, the Cyclones have won home games against Texas and Kansas State, and lost to Oklahoma State, Missouri and Texas Tech on the road. In fact, Iowa State is undefeated at home this season.

Kansas comes into the game ranked #8 in both polls thanks to their win over Kentucky on Saturday. Iowa State fell to #13 in both polls.

Kansas leads the all-time series 189-66, including a 29-22 record in Hilton Coliseum. The Jayhawks have won 7 straight in the series, with the last win for the Cyclones coming in the Big 12 Tournament in 2019. The last win for Iowa State at home was in January of that same year.
