In this story:

The first big matchup for the Kansas Jayhawks comes tonight, as they resume their series with the Kentucky Wildcats as part of the Champions Classic in Chicago. Once again, the top two teams in terms of all-time wins are facing off, and Kansas has some ground to make up. Thanks to the penalties imposed by the NCAA after the conclusion of the IARP decision, Kansas lost 15 wins, taking them from having 10 more wins to now 5 less wins.

Kansas continues to be ranked #1 in both the AP Poll and Coaches Poll. They have been in the top 10 of the AP Poll in each of the last 40 polls. Kentucky comes in ranked #17 in the AP Poll and #16 in the Coaches Poll.

Kentucky leads the overall series 24-11, including a 2-2 record in the Champions Classic. The last meeting between these two teams went to the Jayhawks last season in Lexington. They have met 11 times in the last 13 seasons
